The murder of Irina Farion: Budanov condemns and promises punishment

Today, Ukraine said goodbye to a prominent public figure and scholar Iryna Farion.

The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov , expressed his deep concern over the cold-blooded murder of the famous linguist, calling it a challenge for the entire Ukrainian society and a crime against the fundamental rights and freedoms of Ukrainians.

“This tragedy has once again demonstrated that the enemy seeks to use any tools to divide our nation. Therefore, we have no right to forget that despite our differences in political positions, the right to an opinion and the right to defend our beliefs is sacred. This is the foundation of our freedom, and anyone who encroaches on it must be punished,” Budanov said.

Budanov emphasized that Iryna Farion died for the Ukrainian position and called for decisive action in response to this crime: “We have no right to tolerate such crimes and will continue to defend Ukraine both at the front and inside our country.”

In conclusion, he expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and said: “May Ms. Iryna’s memory be blessed.”
