Systemic cyberattacks by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine on the IT infrastructure of the aggressor country Russia have led to personnel changes in the leadership of the enemy’s public sector. It is worth noting that the new “specialists” in the positions lead to an even greater deepening of the problems and worsen the situation for Russian cybersecurity. This was reported by online.ua’ s sources in Ukrainian intelligence.

Main theses:

  • The GRU carried out one of the most powerful cyberattacks, paralyzing the Russian judicial system.
  • Ukrainian intelligence managed to find many weaknesses in the cybersecurity of the aggressor country.
  • The Kremlin’s personnel purges have made the situation worse, not better.

What is known about the results of the DIU’s cyber war against Russia

According to intelligence insiders, after a series of hacker attacks on the Kremlin’s financial and judicial infrastructure, Almaz Tagirovich Ibragimov was appointed the new head of the Information and Judicial Department at the Russian Supreme Court.

What is important to understand is that this person, whose professional competencies are highly questionable, filled his subordinate structures with his own people.

In particular, a certain Ivanov V.A. was appointed to the post of Director General of the Judicial Department. After that, Ukrainian intelligence launched another cyberattack, in particular, the state system “Pravosuddya” was hit, which ceased to function properly as a result of the attack.

Ukrainian intelligence also managed to find out that the new management team, consisting mainly of natives of Buryatia and Tyumen, was completely unable to solve the problem.

De facto, it does not have and does not know where to find qualified personnel who could try to restore Pravosuddie and cope with the consequences of the GUR cyberattacks.

Ukrainian intelligence managed to paralyze the judicial system of the aggressor country, and the occupiers’ judiciary reverted from digital interaction to sending paper letters by Russian Post.

Details of one of the most powerful cyberattacks of the GUR against Russia

As mentioned earlier, on October 7, 2024, the hacker group “VO Team” in cooperation with the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine “congratulated” Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on his birthday and hacked the state automated system “Pravosudie”.

What is important to understand is that it was used for electronic document flow in all courts of the aggressor country.

The attack paralyzed the work of courts, departmental e-mails and official websites. The hackers also obtained personal data of users and internal documentation of the system. Currently, the Russians report that it is impossible to file lawsuits and view court dates, and court websites are down.

According to DIU sources, the hacking became possible due to the illiteracy of Russian cyber specialists in security, as well as due to holes in the much-hyped Russian cybersecurity systems from Kaspersky Lab, Positive Technologies and IVK JSC.
