Our intelligence has capabilities that are unmatched in the world”: General Pavlenko on the successes of the DIU under Budanov’s leadership

Ukrainian military intelligence has technologies and capabilities that no other intelligence service in the world has. This was emphasized by the former deputy head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Major General Ilya Pavlenko, in an interview with the Kyiv TV channel, Focus reports.

“Today, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has become one of the centers of innovation and modernization. Ukrainian intelligence has capabilities that no other intelligence agency in the world has: combat UAVs, missiles, air defense systems, own aircraft, maritime drones and even satellites that allow us to see the enemy even in the most difficult conditions,” Pavlenko emphasized.

According to the general, this progress was made possible by the visionary approach of the DIU’s chief, Kyrylo Budanov, who created not just a team of subordinates, but a team of partners with whom to discuss risks and make informed decisions.

Pavlenko also noted the creation of the War & Sanctions information portal, through which intelligence shares data on the aggressor’s use of sanctioned components for weapons production, which helps international partners to cut off supply channels.

“Today, the DIU has created an atmosphere where people want to develop, implement innovations, and be leaders. And if Ukraine wants to protect itself, there are simply no other options,” summarized Ilya Pavlenko.
