SBU CI prevented<\/a> a new series of Russian attacks on the border areas of Sumy region.<\/p>\n\n

As a result of the special operation, a married couple of Russian intelligence agents were detained red-handed as they were preparing attacks on the Ukrainian Armed Forces units defending the north-eastern borders of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n

According to the available data, the occupiers planned to use various types of weapons, including BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers.<\/p>\n\n

To adjust the enemy’s attacks, the defendants had to identify the locations of Ukrainian troops and pass their coordinates to the invaders.<\/p>\n\n

The SBU learned about this aggressor’s plan at the initial stage of Russian agents’ intelligence activity.<\/p>\n\n

This allowed us to take timely comprehensive measures to secure the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and detain both offenders while they were conducting reconnaissance near a potential target.<\/p>\n\n

According to the investigation, the couple of unemployed locals worked remotely for the Russian special service through an anonymous chat in a messenger.<\/p>\n\n

To fulfill the enemy’s task, the traitors drove around the border in their own car, where they monitored the positions of the Defense Forces.<\/p>\n\n

During the search, the detainees’ cell phones were seized, which they used to mark the geolocations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Google maps.<\/p>\n\n

The SBU investigators have served both suspicion notices under Part 2 Art. 28, Part 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law by a group of persons by prior conspiracy). <\/p>\n\n
