Ukraine presented a set of solutions to counter populism in a conservative environment. Analysts have developed practical recommendations for the economy, security, information policy, and local government. The documents analyze the advantages of an ideology based on European traditions as an alternative to radical populist approaches.
With the support of the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the NGO Democracy Now has developed a series of policy briefs that offer a balanced view of the current challenges posed by the rise of populist forces. The documents were created as part of the Conservative Platform project.
“Our goal is to offer an alternative to radical populism, which is often disguised under conservative slogans. Christian democracy has a strong intellectual and practical tradition in Europe and can become an important reference point for Ukraine on its path to European integration,”said project manager Yuriy Honcharenko.

On April 9, the content of the policy briefs was discussed during an online meeting of the Ukrainian Security Club. Based on the results of the discussion, the documents were submitted to the UBC expert groups for further processing.
