Far-left extremists set fire to Rheinmetall CEO Papperger’s summer home in Germany because of his support for Ukraine

від Савицький Олексій May 1, 2024

Extremists of the Red Army Faction (RAF) terrorist group burned down the dacha of the head of Rheinmetall for supplying weapons to Ukraine

In Hermannsburg (Lower Saxony), the summer house of Armin Papperger, head of Germany’s largest defense company Rheinmetal, was set on fire, Bild reports.

Left-wing extremists claimed responsibility for the arson. They called the company “one of the beneficiaries of the so-called tipping point.” This term (Zeitenwende) is used by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to describe the war in Ukraine. They explained their actions by the fact that the German company is enriching itself at the expense of the conflict in Ukraine.

“On the night of April 28-29, 2024, we installed an incendiary device at Armin Papperger’s dacha,” Bild quoted a statement by the radicals published on the Indymedia platform.

The radicals believe that Rheinmetall is deliberately accumulating “various old types of tanks” that “can now be sold to Ukraine along with ammunition at a huge profit.” Thus, “Rheinmetall plans, produces and kills not only on a national scale.”

In their appeal, the radicals also demanded the release from prison of a former member of the Red Army Faction (RAF) terrorist group, Daniele Clette. The 65-year-old Klette had been hiding from the police for over 30 years. They are accused of involvement in a German left-wing radical armed organization that has been terrorizing Germany and West Berlin for decades, of attempted murder and a series of robberies. During the searches of Klette’s house, explosives, ammunition, a Kalashnikov rifle, a pistol, an assault rifle and other “heavy” weapons were found.

The German special services are investigating the arson and checking the authenticity of the statement.

The Red Army Faction (RAF) was a German left-wing terrorist organization of urban guerrillas that operated in Germany and West Berlin. It was founded in 1970 by Andreas Baader, Gudrun Enslin, and Horst Mahler.

Sanctioned Metropolitan of the UOC (MP) from Zaporizhzhia, who provoked religious hatred, was served a notice of suspicion

від Савицький Олексій May 1, 2024

The Security Service served a notice of suspicion to the sanctioned Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate from Zaporizhzhia, who provoked religious hatred (Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code).

We are talking about Metropolitan Luke (Andriy Kovalenko). The defendant publicly spoke disparagingly about parishioners of other faiths. In this way, he undermined the socio-political situation in the frontline region in favor of Russia.

“In addition, the cleric posted provocative posts in his personal telegram channel, in which he insulted the religious feelings of representatives of other faiths. In this way, he undermined the socio-political situation in the frontline region in favor of the aggressor country,” the SBU said.

Based on the evidence collected, he was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the equality of citizens based on their race, nationality, region, religious beliefs and other grounds).

The issue of choosing a measure of restraint is being decided. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The offender faces imprisonment.

In December 2022, the NSDC imposed personal sanctions against him. On December 11, 2022, the National Security and Defense Council imposed personal sanctions against seven hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. In particular, against Metropolitan Luke (Andriy Kovalenko) of Zaporizhzhia and Melitopol of the UOC-MP.

To lie low near Luhansk: Nepalese mercenaries desert Russian army en masse

від Савицький Олексій May 1, 2024

According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, mercenaries from Nepal, assigned to the military unit 29328 of the Russian Armed Forces, are fleeing en masse. This is due to huge losses in “meat assaults”, cruelty of commanders and non-payment of promised money.

The Russians are actively looking for fugitives in the occupied Ukrainian settlements, particularly in the Luhansk region. As a rule, this does not yield results. In their reports to the “top”, the occupiers explain this by telling fables about Nepalese people leaving “for their home country because of an earthquake”.

The DIU reminded that getting from the occupied Luhansk region to Nepal is not an easy task. In addition, they may face prosecution for participating in the war against Ukraine at home.

Last year, it became known that Russia had recruited hundreds of Nepalese citizens into its occupation army. The media reported about 15 thousand Nepalis, citing “numerous sources.”

US Congress calls for more cluster bombs to be sent to Ukraine

від Савицький Олексій May 1, 2024

During a hearing in the U.S. House of Representatives, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson called for more cluster bombs to be sent to Ukraine.

Joe Wilson noted that giving them to Ukraine would be a great way for the US to get rid of them and at the same time support the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“I hope that cluster bombs will be provided to Ukraine as soon as possible. We have surpluses that need to be destroyed. I know a way to destroy them – send them to the people of Ukraine,” the American politician said.

Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, speaking in the US House of Representatives, commented on the delivery of long-range ATACMS missiles to Ukraine. He stated that the United States would provide Ukraine with “as much capability as we can.”

Collaborator working for Kremlin media detained in Kharkiv

від Савицький Олексій May 1, 2024

SBU CI detained a collaborator in Kharkiv who helped the Kremlin media justify the aggressive war against Ukraine.

The defendant prepared theses that were used in commissioned materials by central Russian TV channels. In particular, regarding the Russian missile and bomb strikes on the critical infrastructure of Kharkiv.

The detainee was preparing “information references” that glorified the occupiers and denied their war crimes.

Later, her messages were “dispersed” in the stories of the Kremlin’s mouthpieces, including the talk shows of Skabeeva and Solovyov.

According to the investigation, the collaborator worked for the Kremlin media through an “intermediary”. It turned out to be a Russian “military commander” who coordinated his actions with Russian military intelligence.

Earlier, the defendant contacted him through the VKontakte social network and offered her help in the war against Ukraine.

After receiving the information, the Russian “military commander” passed it on to the moderators of the central TV channels of the Russian Federation or spoke on the air with the theses of his accomplice.

To collect data for the enemy, the suspect monitored news in Telegram channels or “in the dark” asked her friends for the information she needed.

During the searches of the offender’s residence, the SBU seized a cell phone with evidence of her subversive activities in favor of Russia.

SBU investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

▪ Part 6 of Art. 111-1 (collaboration activities);

▪ Part 1 and Part 3 of Article 436-2 (justification, recognition of the legitimacy, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants).

The offender is currently in custody. She faces up to 12 years in prison.

Due to attacks of Ukrainian drones, Russia has problems with gasoline – media

від Савицький Олексій May 1, 2024

Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil refineries have led to gasoline shortages in Russia – Politico.

Ukraine decommissioned Russian oil refineries, which undermined export supplies from Russia and caused a sharp rise in prices on its domestic market.

Last Wednesday, two fuel storage facilities belonging to Russian energy giant Rosneft, about 500 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, were severely damaged by drones. This year, more than a dozen oil refineries in nine Russian regions have been similarly affected, with officials in Kyiv saying the industry is a legitimate target of war.

“It’s like a mosquito – when you can’t catch it, you can’t kill it, and it comes back night after night. It is exhausting. It’s a very good way to take the tension off the front line,” commented Philip Ingram, a former British military intelligence officer and NATO planner.

According to the publication, diesel prices for consumers have risen sharply in Russia. Compared to previous figures, they have increased by almost 10% in the last week alone.

Gasoline prices also hit a six-month high, up more than 20% since the beginning of the year. This is due to the fact that constant attacks on refineries are reducing fuel supplies, as more and more companies are forced to suspend production.

For Russia, the attacks on refineries are critically damaging, as the amount of fuel has decreased not only for civilian consumers but also for military equipment. In addition, due to the Kremlin’s ban on exporting fuel abroad, black market trade has significantly increased, which also harms the country’s economy and affects pricing.

Last year, Moscow was forced to impose a ban on the export of gasoline and diesel fuel due to shortages in the domestic market, where regulations have historically kept prices low to appease motorists and artificially stimulate the agricultural sector.

Christian democratic values

від Майданюк Валерій April 30, 2024

The key values of Christian democracy include freedom, democracy, respect for labor, liberty, and social justice.

Democracy. Christian democracy has formed its own views on democracy, which focuses not on the individual with unlimited voluntarism, but on the community. It is the community that is the primary habitat of the individual, and it is the aggregate of communities that forms society. The community emerges at the lowest level of social interactions and is the best representative of the interests of individuals. Therefore, taking into account the interests of the community is the main task of democracy. At the same time, Christian democracy supports the pluralism of opinions and takes into account all social groups in society.

Freedom. Christian democrats consistently advocate the right of every person to free personal development and support pluralism and freedom, and see the main task of their policy as providing a person with the necessary space for freedom. However, individual freedom includes rights and responsibilities and finds its limits in the freedom of other citizens and in responsibility for future generations. Freedom in the Christian democratic sense is realized through personal responsibility and sharing responsibility with others. And the Program of Principles of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) in Germany states that “The realization of the freedom of each individual is ethically impossible without responsibility for oneself and for society.” Therefore, Christian Democrats oppose the false understanding of individualism at the expense of others.

Respect for labor. From the perspective of the concept of personalism, Christian democrats view human labor as a value, not a commodity. And respect for labor is inextricably linked to respect for private property, which the ideology of Christian democracy protects, but at the same time, endows with a social function. However, the existence of private property should serve not only selfish interests, but also social ones.

Social justice. The idea of social justice occupies an important place in the ideology of Christian democracy and is a necessary condition for achieving the common good. However, in the Christian democratic understanding, social justice does not imply social equalization, but should be based on objective principles and aimed not only at individuals, but also at the harmonious development of society as a whole. For Christian democrats, social justice is not only about giving everyone what they are entitled to, but also about giving communities and society what they are due. The idea of social justice in a Christian democracy is inextricably linked to a social market economy and a welfare state, which is guided by the principles of solidarity and subsidiarity in its system of services and is on the path to realizing the common good.

This list is not exhaustive and unchangeable, because in each country Christian democrats have their own value priorities. For example, the German CDU/CSU declares freedom, solidarity, and justice as its main values.

Morality is also an important value of Christian democrats, and it is given absolute importance. It is on the principles of morality and on the assessment of political actions from the standpoint of Christian morality that state policy should be based. The most important element of society and a value of Christian democracy is also the family, which is the first component of society. Christian democrats view society itself as a “family made up of families.”

In the ideological and political aspect, Christian democracy today finds a balance between many competing ideologies, which it warns against political extremes. Christian democracy tries to avoid the shortcomings of liberalism, which puts the individual with unlimited desires at the center of everything, sacrificing the interests of society, violating morality and ethics. It also avoids the collectivist extremes of socialism, which strives for equality for all but in reality leads to poverty and economic stagnation. With its universal outlook, Christian democracy also rises above nationalism, which often focuses on the interests of only one nation. In the end, according to one of the most influential philosophers, Jürgen Habermas, there is no alternative to Christian ethics for ensuring freedom, solidarity, emancipation, morality, human rights, and democracy. Only building state policy on Christian principles, in the opinion of Christian democrats, is able to fully build a democratic, legal and social state for all members of society.

Family of Russian spies organized explosions and poisonings in Europe – media investigation

від Савицький Олексій April 30, 2024

A married couple of illegal Russian spies, Nikolai and Elena Shaposhnikov, were the coordinators of a series of explosions and poisonings in Europe organized by Russian military intelligence, according to an investigation by The Insider.

The Shaposhnikovs lived in the Czech Republic under the guise of political emigrants. They were granted asylum in the early 1990s, having changed several refugee camps. The family applied for Czech citizenship. At the same time, Shaposhnikov concealed his service in Afghanistan, and Shaposhnikova said that when she acquired refugee status, she handed over her Ukrainian passport, although she continued to use it to travel to Russia and Ukraine.

In the early 2000s, Shaposhnikov shared his knowledge of Soviet weapons with Petr Bernatik, an engineer by training. Bernatic was a former secret agent of the Czechoslovakian state security apparatus who maintained close ties with the Soviet occupation forces.

Bernatik’s largest arms trade business was the Imex Group, with many of its customers located in regions of the world where Soviet-era weapons were still in use and appropriate ammunition was needed. Shaposhnikov worked there as a business development manager.

Olena Shaposhnikova ran her business officially. But, according to the investigation, she was involved in the work of Imex and directed her husband’s actions in direct coordination with the head of GRU military unit 29155, General Andrei Averyanov. Despite the fact that the family’s income was approximately $650 per month, the Shaposhnikovs bought real estate in the Czech Republic and a villa in Greece. The real estate was used by the GRU as a safe house.

In addition, Olena owned an offshore company of unknown purpose registered in the Marshall Islands and controlled two bank accounts in Switzerland. These accounts, as well as unexplained cash infusions into the Shaposhnikovs’ Czech bank accounts and a cash payment scheme, appear to have been the real source of funds for the family.

The Shaposhnikovs collected information for Russian spies. The spy couple was involved in explosions at ammunition depots in Vrbice, Czech Republic, and an attempted assassination of Bulgarian arms dealer Yemelian Gebrev, who supplied weapons to Ukraine.

The Shaposhnikovs have recently become interested in Czech investigators. After that, Nikolai Shaposhnikov began to abuse alcohol, neglected his medication, and died in February 2024 of a heart attack. Olena Shaposhnikova continues to insist that she is being persecuted because of her Russian origin. She lives in Greece and holds a Russian passport issued by military unit 29155, a unit of Chepyga and Mishkin, saboteurs and assassins from Russian military intelligence. The authorities of the country should soon decide whether she will be extradited to the Czech Republic.

10 facts about Christian democracy

від Майданюк Валерій April 29, 2024

Christian democracy became the ideology of reconciliation and integration for European countries after World War II. The universal values of Christian democracy raised post-war Europe from the ruins and became the foundation of a welfare state based on freedom, solidarity, and responsibility.

1. The European Union was created on the initiative of Christian democrats. Christian democratic leaders Konrad Adenauer, Robert Schuman and Alcide de Gasperi not only laid the foundations for the economic prosperity of Germany, France and Italy, but also became the founding fathers of the European Union.

2. All the ministers who signed the 1951 agreement establishing the European Coal and Steel Community were representatives of Christian Democratic parties.

3. 3. The Christian Social Union (CSU ) stands out among the parties in Germany with the largest share of members with higher education – 39%.

4. 4. The Christian Social Union has been in power in Bavaria since 1949, more than half a century. Bavaria is the size of three average Ukrainian regions, but its GDP is almost five times larger than the GDP of the whole of Ukraine, which is evidence of a well chosen economic course based on Christian democratic principles.

5. It was on the initiative of the Lithuanian Christian Democrats from the Homeland Union – Lithuanian Christian Democrats party that in 2000 a law was passed to compensate Lithuania for the damage caused by the Soviet occupation and to put forward demands to the Russian Federation. Christian Democrats in Lithuania knew how to deal with Russia long before it became mainstream.

6. 6. The leader of the struggle for independence and the first president of Croatia in 1990-1999, Franjo Tudjman, was a Christian democrat. The armed forces formed by Tudjman defeated the Yugoslav army in 1991, after which the independent state of Croatia was formed, ruled for the first decade by the Croatian Democratic Commonwealth party, which made Christian democracy its ideological basis.

7. The Christian Democratic International was founded in 1961. In 1999, the organization was renamed CentristDemocratic International to demonstrate the participation of representatives of other religions, not just Christianity, in the movement. The association is open to political parties and organizations that base their policies on the principles of Christian and integral humanism, which recognizes the existence of a spiritual dimension in human nature and is committed to the ideals of brotherhood. Today, the International includes more than 100 parties.

8. In the Netherlands, Christian and Christian Democratic parties have been in power or members of a government coalition since 1901. No wonder the Netherlands is one of the most successful and developed countries in Europe and the world.

9. The concept of a social market economy, which combines elements of economic freedom and social responsibility of business to society, was developed by Christian democratic economists Walter Aiken and Alfred Müller-Armack (who later became the head of the Christian democratic Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung).

10. According to Professor Udi Greenberg, after World War II, Christian democrats achieved the unthinkable by uniting the heterogeneous legal systems of Europe into a democratic community.

Investigation in the Czech Republic confirms the involvement of Russian special services in the explosions at the ammunition depots in Vrbetice

від Савицький Олексій April 29, 2024

Czech police have confirmed that the GRU was behind the 2014 warehouse bombings in Vrbetice. And closed the case due to Russia’s refusal to cooperate – Irozhlas

According to the investigation, GRU officers resorted to sabotage to disrupt the supply of weapons and ammunition to Syria and Ukraine.

The goal was to prevent the delivery of weapons and ammunition to the areas of the Russian army’s combat operations, primarily to Syria and Ukraine. This was stated by the head of the National Center for Combating Organized Crime of the Czech Police, Jiri Mazanek.

The police report does not mention the names of the GRU officers, but investigators have previously named Anatoly Chepiga and Alexander Mishkin. The UK believes they were involved in the poisoning of former Soviet spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter in Salisbury in 2018.

The first explosion occurred on the morning of October 16, 2014, at warehouse 16. It destroyed 58 tons of ammunition. Two security guards were killed. The second explosion occurred on December 3 at another warehouse. Almost 13 tons of artillery shells and mines were stored there, as well as thousands of machine guns.
