Ukraine connects a gas turbine mini-power plant received from the United States to the grid

від Савицький Олексій June 18, 2024

Ukraine has connected a gas turbine mini-tower plant received from the United States to the grid. The head of the Union of Consumers of Public Utilities, Oleh Popenko, wrote about this on his social media page.

According to him, it took Energoatom 16 months to launch a mobile power plant donated by USAID in early 2023.

This equipment will help:

▪️збільшити the Ukrainian power system generating capacity of 25 MW;
▪️швидко to restore power to NPPs at least for their own needs in case of power outages;
▪️забезпечити critical infrastructure and civilian population with electricity and heat.

“It is working,” said Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy, Housing and Utilities on Monday, June 17. “This is much-needed equipment from our American partners that will help increase Ukraine’s power generating capacity by 25 MW, allow for rapid restoration of power to NPPs at least for their own needs in case of power outages as a result of rocket or artillery shelling, and will also ensure critical infrastructure and civilian security.

The power plant, manufactured in the United States by General Electric, was brought to Ukraine in February last year.

German-made Frankenstein tank to be delivered to Ukraine

від Савицький Олексій June 18, 2024

A new air defense tank “Frankenstein” designed to destroy Russian drones and missiles will be delivered to Ukraine by a leading German arms company, The Telegraph reports.

Rheinmetall has announced that it is installing its state-of-the-art Skyranger anti-aircraft system on the hulls of Cold War-era Leopard 1 tanks, creating a new vehicle to strengthen Ukraine’s defense.

To create Frankenstein, the company installed its state-of-the-art Skyranger anti-aircraft system on the hulls of Leopard 1 tanks
The company has only recently developed the Skyranger system, which has sophisticated sensors with a 360-degree view of the battlefield that can counter swarms of drones.

Mr. Bernhardt made his comments at a top-secret workshop recently opened by Rheinmetall in western Ukraine, where the company is repairing German-made tanks that have been damaged in the front.

“There are still many Leopard 1 main battle tanks on whose chassis we could mount a Skyranger turret with a 35 mm automatic cannon,” Bjorn Bernhard, head of ground systems at Rheinmetall, told German newspaper Bild.

By repairing the vehicles in Ukraine, the company hopes to reduce the time required to return the tanks to the frontline.

Initially, the plant will repair only Marder armored vehicles and an older version of the Leopard tank. But the company has said it wants to repair the more modern Leopard 2 tanks in Ukraine as well.

“We are not just supplying equipment and then withdrawing it – we are showing that we will be there permanently and will support Ukraine.
We plan to work for the long term in Ukraine,” Mr. Bernhard emphasized.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the arms manufacturer’s business has been booming.

Last week, the company announced that it was hiring staff from troubled car parts maker Continental, which has cut 7,000 jobs worldwide.

від Савицький Олексій June 18, 2024

Son of Vinnytsia TCC official promised to arrange travel abroad for $20 thousand – SBI

The man claimed that for $20,000 his father would prepare documents that would allow him to avoid mobilization and leave Ukraine.

According to intelligence, the official’s son offered similar “assistance” to other people. In particular, during the searches, the SBU found and seized empty calls, more than a dozen copies of passports of men of military age, cash in different currencies.

On June 14, the SBI detained the official’s son while he was transferring USD 15 thousand. Earlier, he had already received USD 5 thousand from the “client”.

The places of residence and work of the defendant and his father were searched.

A custodial measure of restraint was imposed on him with the possibility of bail in the amount of UAH 1 million. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 8 years with confiscation of property.

The investigation is ongoing, and the involvement of not only the detainee’s father, but also other officials of the Vinnytsia Regional Military-Terrorist Center and the JV is being checked.

від Савицький Олексій June 18, 2024

Spied on AFU units in Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions: enemy informant faces 12 years in prison

The first direction was the south of Dnipropetrovs’k region, where the defendant reconnoitered the locations of the Armed Forces units.

Another area of focus was Zaporizhzhia. There, the enemy was interested in the routes of movement and deployment points of Ukrainian defenders on the outskirts of the regional center.

In the south of Dnipropetrovs’k region, the suspect, a shop assistant in a village, was reconnoitering the locations of the Defense Forces units. In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy was interested in the routes of movement and deployment points of Ukrainian soldiers on the outskirts of the regional center.

The occupiers planned to use the intelligence to break through the Ukrainian defense.

The informant tried to establish close contacts with the Ukrainian military in order to “secretly” obtain the necessary information,

She passed the intelligence to the occupiers through her friend who lives in the temporarily occupied Crimea and has a brother who is a commander of a racist unit.

SBU investigators have served the detainee a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information on the movement, movement or location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine if they can be identified on the ground).

The offender is in custody.

Are all politicians the same?

від Майданюк Валерій June 17, 2024

Due to the traditional distrust of the state among Ukrainians, which was provoked by the long colonial past and the shortcomings of the Ukrainian bureaucracy after independence, there is a rather dangerous opinion that “all politicians are the same” and “all politics is dirty.” Russian agents are not the last promoters of such ideas in Ukraine. If we follow this anarchist logic, then the only alternative to political procedures as a form of civilized coexistence of citizens is street violence and the right of the strongest. The only alternative to politics, which is branded as a “corrupt scam,” is rampant banditry, like in Somalia, where armed robbers, not politicians, rule.

At the same time, critics of all politicians, without exception, forget about those statesmen who have made their countries successful through political means. If all politicians are equally corrupt, cynical, and thieving, then who built successful countries that are now models of development? Despite the criticism of politics, there are no countries in the world that have become democratic, legal and social by means other than political ones.

For most of the world, countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, the Scandinavian countries, and Finland have become the epitome of welfare, care for people, civil liberties, and opportunities for human development. But all these benefits were built by none other than politicians. Not by executions, concentration camps, and repression, but by reforms based on the rule of law, respect for human dignity, property, and civil rights. Apart from a dozen and a half welfare states, most of them European, there are no other examples of more successful societies on the planet today. After all, politics is different.

Of course, all countries had corruption, oligarchs, the mafia, and destructive forces, but in some countries, politicians were able to establish laws and rules that made the state’s resources work for the benefit of the people. It is an indisputable fact that successful countries were built by good politicians and statesmen. Politicians were helped by a free press, conscious voters, economic, social and other conditions, but without effective public management, Germany or Switzerland would not be held up as examples of successful social and legal states today.

For example, Germany, the country that has received the largest number of Ukrainian refugees, has been building for decades as a welfare state based on Christian democratic values. The first German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, the author of the German “economic miracle,” built Germany on the Christian principles of solidarity, subsidiarity, morality, and respect for human dignity, the key values of the Gospel.

Such Christian democratic European leaders as Hanns Seidel and Ludwig Erlhard in Germany, Robert Schuman in France, and Alcide de Gasperi in Italy were the politicians who helped the people of these countries to live in peace, prosperity, and development. All of them were politicians, but they fought for the adoption of laws, regulations and institutions that made possible the welfare and prosperity that are now an example for the whole world to follow. And millions of refugees from other countries dream of getting to the countries that built these policies.

When Ukrainians are told that “all politicians are the same,” it means that they want to divert us from the path of development that modern Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Austria or Sweden have taken and offer us some kind of anarchy instead of civilized political rules of power change and reform. There will be no politicians there, but bandits, terrorists, militants, or pirates, just like in countries where politics was destroyed in the chaos of civil conflicts.

The SBU has already destroyed more than 1,000 Russian tanks worth more than $2 billion.

від Савицький Олексій June 17, 2024

The SBU celebrates a “tank anniversary”. Recently, the service’s soldiers destroyed the thousandth Russian tank since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. To date, the security service has already destroyed 1006 tanks.

More than 1000 destroyed Russian tanks:

  • the enemy’s loss of more than $2 billion in military equipment;
  • Reducing the military potential of the Russian Federation by almost 2 tank armies (!);
  • 1/8 of the nearly 8,000 tanks that have been destroyed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Ukraine’s Security Service destroyed most of the enemy’s armored vehicles during the fighting in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions.

Don’t confuse ideology with propaganda: why it’s important to distinguish between political beliefs in the United States and Russian disinformation

від Юрій Гончаренко June 13, 2024

Let’s not confuse Russian propaganda with the ideological beliefs of politicians in the United States, even if we don’t like them

One of the diseases of the growth of our politics and civil society, which was exacerbated during the full-scale invasion, is the categorical rejection of other views and the very fact of its existence. In the context of attitudes toward Ukraine and our war with Russia, this is absolutely justified.

However, sometimes this attitude is transferred to entire strata, which are distinguished primarily on the basis of ideology. However, this is extremely strange, since there are virtually no mainstream political parties in Ukraine that have a clearly defined, stable political ideology. And populism and juggling with terms are a constant practice during election processes.

But in Europe and the United States, the situation is quite different. And if a party proclaims itself a Christian democratic or conservative party, it is very unlikely to implement socialist ideas. It is impossible to even imagine libertarian parties raising taxes after winning, or social democrats canceling social assistance.

When Ukraine discusses the victory of the National Rally party in France, it is very wrong to assume that everyone who voted for this party is against supporting Ukraine because its informal leader, Marie Le Pen, has longstanding ties to Putin. An even bigger mistake is to assume that everyone who supports Trump in the United States wants Ukraine to lose the war. It is also a mistake to call all politicians who back him pro-Russian.

Colleagues from the Ukrainian data journalism agency Texty.org.ua have made a study “American swing. From Trumpists to Communists, Who and How is Campaigning to Stop Aid to Ukraine”.. It contains many correct remarks about the statements of certain politicians regarding Ukraine. Yes, we have and must say that Ukraine is waging a just war, defending itself against an aggressor that outnumbers us in numbers and resources, and that is why we need the support of other free nations of the world. Yes, we must present proven facts of cooperation between politicians, journalists, or public figures and our enemy. But we should not confuse the proven fact of cooperation with the coincidence of positions. We should not claim to be working for Russia if we do not have indisputable facts to prove it.

Even in the case of Tucker Carlson, it is not correct to say that he is a “spreader of Russian propaganda.” Because this media figure has made quite different statements, he has officially renounced his cooperation with Russian television, and he has publicly called Putin’s words about Nazis in Ukraine nonsense.

Even more wrong is the blanket criticism of some conservative foundations and environments.

“The people of Ukraine have shown their commitment to the transatlantic community, and the United States should provide Ukraine with advanced weapons and other tactical equipment, such as secure communications. We should not assume that such a decision by the United States will help resolve the crisis and end Russia’s aggression. While Ukraine’s future success depends primarily on Ukrainians themselves, U.S. leadership is essential to counter Russian aggression and support reforms,” the Heritage Foundation said in a report released in November 2017.

In other words, the “center-right think tank that has consistently advocated for an end to support for Ukraine” – according to Texts – has not always been so. They write about Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire: “Fact-checkers consider the site to be biased because of its distortion of facts to favor a conservative bias and its history of disseminating unverified information.” And what is the importance of promoting conservative ideology, especially if “Ben Shapiro even criticized Tucker Carlson for being manipulative in linking the welfare of Americans to aid to Ukraine.”?

Texty.org.ua is now under a barrage of criticism in the United States, with calls to cut off funding through grants from the US government and even to add them to the list of terrorist organizations. This is an unacceptable reaction to the publication of journalists. No matter who writes. If any of the colleagues named in the material personally believe that they have been unfairly insulted and slandered, there is a court. Where you can file.

However, we, as the Conservative Platform, as a community of like-minded people who share the values that Tucker Carlson, Ben Shapiro, Jordan Peterson, and many others mentioned in the Texty.org.ua article, hopefully live by, want to note that our struggle, which is taking place because of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, is also taking place at the level of meanings, information, and disinformation.

To American conservatives, Republicans, right-wingers, and anyone who wants to understand Ukraine and the reasons for the war with Russia.

In the United States, they are trying to convince you that Ukraine is the worst personification of everything you dislike about your political opponents. However, in order not to look like a party making excuses, we will simply say who we are.

  1. We are Christians who respect and treat other religions with respect. On July 6-20, 2022, the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) conducted its own all-Ukrainian public opinion poll, Omnibus. According to its results, only 10% of Ukrainians considered themselves atheists. Does this somehow coincide with what you are told about Ukraine? Of course, different polls will show different numbers, but none will give less than 80% of people professing any of the world’s religions, and there will be at least 85% of Christians among them. In Russia, according to their official survey, there are 10% fewer religious people and 15% fewer Christians. So where do we need to protect Christian values?
  2. Yes, you may be told that Russia is fighting against LGBT people, who are banned in Russia, and that Ukraine is holding Equality Marches. However, this only means that we recognize the existence of such people and do not repress them (like all democratic countries), and we do not lie to ourselves or to you. Because the scandals with the “naked parties” and the Russian elite’s belonging to this category of people break through even their propaganda. And we want to emphasize that we are talking about the cultural and political elite of Russia.
So, yes, we really do not prohibit something that has existed despite all prohibitions at all times, including in the United States. We provide equal civil rights to everyone, regardless of their sexual orientation. However, if you look at our news at least briefly, you will see that in general, Ukrainian society has an extremely negative attitude towards the PROMOTION of LGBT+ culture, and we are in solidarity with conservatives in America and around the world. Because, as noted in paragraph 1, Ukraine is a Christian country.
  3. We know what a problem the situation with migrants is for the United States. And we respect the efforts of every country that protects its identity from erosion and destruction. And in this regard, Ukrainians are no different from ordinary Americans. Moreover, because of Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, our people and our country are under the threat of dilution and destruction of our identity.
A hundred years ago, the Russian Empire, having exterminated millions of Ukrainians through genocide and artificial famine, settled in their homes representatives of peoples who had never lived on this territory. Now, in the temporarily occupied territories, this is happening again. And for the first time in our history, humanitarian aid for the occupied territories is being provided in the form of several thousand sheep for the religious needs of people whom Russia calls citizens of the occupied territories. We respect nations that practice Islam. But in our traditions, there has never been a ritual killing of animals in city squares. As has been happening for several years in Moscow and other Russian cities.
  4. You are convinced that we have no chance of winning. That we will soon surrender. This is not true. It is in the traditions of the Ukrainian nation to wage a desperate, uncompromising struggle against a much more powerful enemy. In 1941, the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists began this struggle on two fronts at once, against both the German and Soviet occupiers. The Ukrainian Insurgent Army, created by the OUN, terrified the Bolsheviks for more than 10 years, with the total superiority of the USSR.
After February 24, 2022, everyone, including US intelligence, gave us a week to three weeks to surrender completely. But we are still standing. We are certainly grateful to the American people and all the free nations of the world for their support, without which we would have had a different format of war. However, we emphasize that we would have fought anyway. Including with Molotov cocktails and other means that we used in the first days and weeks. We will fight under any circumstances, because the alternative is complete destruction. And we assure you that if we win, the United States will have a most loyal ally, with one of the best-trained and most experienced armies in the world.

We also assure you that the Ukrainian people have no sympathies or antipathies for your politicians that would influence our country’s position. However, on a personal level, you can draw a quite logical conclusion from the above that you, American conservatives, are our like-minded people. And we hope that you will be our friends and allies.

We know how many people do not want this. How they want to split us up. How they provoke the dissemination of information that harms our relationship. We assure you that this can be overcome. And together we can return greatness to the Euro-Atlantic community, make America and Britain, Germany and Ukraine great. All free democracies of the world!

Overcoming the Soviet and Russian occupation past

від Майданюк Валерій June 10, 2024

For centuries, Ukraine did not have its own state to protect the interests of the Ukrainian nation. Different occupation regimes had different effects on Ukrainians. The last most negative occupation regime in terms of its results was the Russian-Soviet one, which had a very painful impact on the state of Ukrainians.

Several famines that exterminated millions of Ukrainians primarily on ethnic grounds, as well as the social destruction of the intelligentsia, scholars, political and public figures, the class of owners, priests and clergy in general, and their Russification, left a terrible mark on the gene pool of Ukrainians, the state of their language, culture, elite, etc. The denationalization of Ukrainians, their transformation into officially “Soviet” but de facto Russian people, is still evident today. The struggle against traditional spirituality, customs, religion, and churches has severed the connection between generations, created a situation of emptiness and isolation of people from the national and spiritual context. People were deprived of moral guidelines; instead of relying on traditional Christian moral values, including the Bible and the Catechism, they were forced to switch to the so-called moral code of the builder of communism, which in reality was based on fear of the power of repressive communist authorities. The Ukrainian ceased to be an owner. The class of owners, even the smallest ones, was killed by Soviet collectivization.

Fascism scholar Zhelia Zhelev argued that communism became a much more dangerous and sophisticated form of totalitarianism and human oppression, taking away not only political rights and freedoms, as fascism did, but also economic ones, destroying any manifestation of private property in the USSR and turning people into absolutely dependent on the will of communist leaders. Such leaders were free to dispose of the fates of millions, which they did with success, organizing mass famines in different parts of the USSR among those peoples who, in their opinion, were not loyal enough or could pose a potential threat.

The revival of the idea of private property and the transformation of Ukrainians into a nation of owners is one of the main tasks of Christian democracy. This can be achieved in many different ways, but the main one is to form the consciousness of a host and owner. For centuries, Ukrainians were nobodies on their land, they had no rights, and their property was taken away from them. They were brought up to have a negative social attitude, a sense of the public and civic sphere as not their own. Today, we need to radically change people’s minds, starting with the idea that all public space should be taken care of and put in order, and that it is the duty of every Ukrainian to maintain order and proper standards even near apartment buildings, on playgrounds, adjacent territories, etc. This is how a sense of ownership, both private and public, should be formed¸ an understanding that this is all ours and we are responsible for its condition. The next step is to teach the younger generation of Ukrainians the basics of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship, the need for self-reliance, the idea that I can earn honestly in my country rather than being an employee of the state – these are new tasks that can eventually revive the Ukrainian traditions of self-employment, family business, business as a service to the community and the people, which will eventually contribute to the formation of Ukrainians as a nation of owners.

Another issue is overcoming the idea of Russian-Soviet unfreedom. Ukrainians were forbidden to think, speak, and finally be Ukrainians and free people. Their churches were destroyed, and instead their own version of the Orthodox state-run church, the Russian Orthodox Church, was introduced (in Ukraine today it is called the Ukrainian Orthodox Church), where priests were KGB officers who reported on the confessions of the faithful, their activities, and carried out propaganda and organizational orders of the communist authorities.

Today, Ukraine is going through a difficult stage of decommunization. So far, it has begun with changing the communist names left by the occupation authorities. However, this is still a small part of what actually needs to be done for a true spiritual and national revival. In addition to rejecting the Church of the occupier, its spiritual practices of “state-owned Chekist Orthodoxy,” based on an almost complete focus on ritual paid services and merger with the authorities, in the case of Ukraine – with the Russian authorities, Ukraine must regain its traditional Orthodoxy and the spirituality of various Christian traditions that have long been represented in Ukraine.

The first steps have already been taken: Ukraine is developing its own local Orthodox Church, recognized by the world Orthodox center, the Patriarchate of Constantinople. However, we are still far from being able to call ourselves free from the “Chekist” filth of devaluing spirituality. So far, the voice and importance of various Ukrainian churches is rather weak. There is still a prevailing opinion among them that they should not be involved in social and political affairs, and that they should not even influence certain threatening social and political processes with their spiritual position. Today, churches are still not sufficiently engaged in various social causes, such as education, assistance to the disadvantaged, assistance to the disabled, homeless, assistance to pregnant women facing the threat of abortion, assistance to refugees, education of children and youth, etc. Churches rarely engage in dialogue with the authorities, public and political figures regarding their adherence to the Christian principles of justice, honesty and mercy.

Brothers of former traitor MPs Medvedchuk and Kozak are suspected

від Савицький Олексій June 10, 2024

The SBU and the SBI served suspicions in absentia on the brothers of former MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak.

Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak, who are now abroad, have been accused of failing to pay UAH 75 million in taxes in 2017-2023.

According to the investigation, these funds were used to finance Russia’s war against Ukraine.

The investigation established that Sergiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak were involved in financial fraud to the detriment of Ukraine in 2017-2023.

We are talking about millions of hryvnias deliberately withdrawn from the tax system, which resulted in the state budget not receiving more than UAH 75 million in taxes.

The director and accountant of their Lviv-based construction materials company, who entered false information in the financial statements, were also suspected. They are in Ukraine.

Based on the evidence collected, Serhiy Medvedchuk and Bohdan Kozak were served suspicion notices in absentia under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (tax evasion, duties (mandatory payments)).

The actions of their accomplices, the director and accountant of the controlled company, who are in Ukraine, are additionally qualified under Part 2 of Art. 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery in office).

The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice. The offenders face imprisonment.

Orban’s Fidesz party gets the worst result in the European Parliament elections

від Савицький Олексій June 10, 2024

Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party and its allies have received the worst result in the European Parliament elections in two decades. According to preliminary results, the political force of pro-Russian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has weakened its position, Politico reports.

According to the first results, Fidesz received 44.2% of the votes in the European Parliament, while the opposition, recently formed center-right party of Peter Magyar, Respect and Freedom (TISZA), came in second with 30%. The result of the opposition force is much higher than experts predicted. It is noted that such results will give Fidesz 11 seats in the European Parliament, and the opposition – seven.

Despite the results, Viktor Orban himself has already congratulated his party’s victory after the vote.

Over the past two decades, Fidesz has only once won less than 50% of the vote – in 2004. Back then, the political force won 47.4% of the vote. Compared to the previous European Parliament elections held in 2019, the ruling Hungarian party lost almost 8% and 2 seats.

Commenting on the preliminary election results, Orban’s former ally, 43-year-old Peter Magyar, told his supporters that the results of the vote mark “the end of an era.”

“We will see historical figures who will provide a very good basis for returning our homeland step by step, brick by brick, in the next parliamentary elections,” he said.

Fidesz – Hungarian Civic Union (Hungarian: Fidesz – Magyar Polgári Szövetség) is a Hungarian right-wing, national conservative party. It is one of the two largest political parties in Hungary. It was founded on March 30, 1988.
