An extremely important task for Ukrainians after the Russian aggression is stopped is economic recovery and overcoming poverty, which is nothing but a loss of human dignity.
Most people in Ukraine are able to earn the equivalent of an average apartment in their lifetime. Another part can afford to buy it in installments, spending the rest of the money to maintain a certain standard of living. Many people, especially pensioners and the disabled, constantly live below the poverty line, allowing themselves only the most basic necessities. All of this causes many people to lose their dignity – many fall into the temptation of alcoholism, some become criminals. However, the majority of people are constantly busy with the problem of survival, struggling to exist in a social system that is not fully just, where the government is far removed from people’s problems and the need to solve them.
Many people believe that most politicians are interested in this state of affairs because it is much easier to govern a poor and oppressed people than a wealthy and free one. In fact, the Ukrainian political system is deeply sick, as most politicians in power are not primarily concerned with fighting poverty and improving the welfare of Ukrainians, but rather with access to media and financial resources, as these two components are the main conditions for their success in the current political system.
Changing the economic situation in Ukraine by giving people access to quality education and at least low- and medium-paid jobs by EU standards will change the social situation, giving most people the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of the real estate market, quality food, education, leisure and recreation, and culture. The growth of consumer opportunities for Ukrainians will provide an internal drive for economic development, which in turn will bring new taxes to the budget
This is one of the most important tasks of the next few decades. Reducing unemployment and the proportion of people living below the poverty line are the tasks for true statesmen.
Suggestions:
- Reduce poverty by half over the next 10 years by developing the labor market and creating about 3-5 million new jobs
- Promote the growth of wages, including the minimum wage
- Promotethe formation of a class of small private owners, both farmers in rural areas and entrepreneurs in urban areas, stimulating self-employment, cooperatives and family businesses in particular
- Creating conditions for employment and the return of millions of migrant workers.
